1. India's Manushi Chhillar crowned Miss World 2017
- India's Manushi Chhillar (20-year) has won the coveted Miss World 2017 crown at a grand event in China.
- She was presented the crown by the last year's Miss World winner Stephanie Del Valle (Puerto Rico) at the event in Sanya City Arena in China.
- Stephanie Jayne Hill (Miss England) came second runner-up and Andrea Meza (Miss Mexico) first runner-up.
- Almost 108 contestants from countries across the world participated in the beauty pageant.
- Chhillar is the sixth Indian woman to win Miss World and the first since Priyanka Chopra won Miss World 2000.
- On 25th June 2017, Manushi Chhillar was crowned Femina Miss India 2017.
Note:
- Chhillar’s father Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar is a scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), while her mother, Dr. Neelam Chhillar, is an associate professor and department head of neurochemistry at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences.
- Chhillar studied at St. Thomas' School in New Delhi, and is pursuing a medical degree at the Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonipat.
